#348 of 365 Lego 7773 Aqua Raiders Tiger Shark Attack

We last saw these guys way back in January when I was doing gitd January.  Well, this will bring things full circle then, as I open up another Aqua Raiders set, this time, one that doesn't have any gitd bits.

The box is all sorts of awesome.  There's the nautical submarine design that's not too in-your-face, but it's pervasive.  The front of the box has a very nice action shot of the contents, while the back has the action features, presented not just as insets, but where the shark is concerned, it's presented almost as if it was on the Discovery channel.

There are six baggies in the set, and a long piece that isn't in a baggie, plus an instruction booklet.  That's a lot of baggies, and they are all unnumbered, which means the build is going to get a bit more interesting than usual.

The minifigs, are of course easy to put together, and I like the overall look with the flippers, air tank and the scuba masks.  Then there's the plate of jewels on the bottom of the sea.  I have no idea what they were thinking, but I'm not sure anyone would hand the jewels on a golden platter or leave it lying around.

The shark was a complicated build, but it could have been worse.  The prefab head cut the building time, but also the total brick count.  It also makes the head a one-use item.  The vehicle also wasn't that easy to build, and the instructions weren't that clear in a number of areas.  The build took longer than usual, perhaps because there was no numbered baggies.

But the set is worth it.  It looks awesome, and despite looking a bit blocky, the shark is actually rather nice to play with.  The vehicle is also jammed packed with action features, from the spring-loaded firing missile to the rotating turbofans.  The sub is also armed to the teeth with tridents and removable harpoons.  And of course, there's a larger harpoon gun to spear the shark and the aforementioned plate of jewels and this set is just bursting with activity and possibilities.
