It's Day 4 of Cars week... and I'm gonna break the monotony a bit by opening the biggest set that I have today, Flo's V8 Cafe!
The box is huge, and thanks to the size it does show the cafe nicely on the front. The back though feels a bit empty.
But it does have the names of all six cars. There are four baggies inside, in addition to the usual instruction book and the decal sheet.
Baggie number 1 builds Lightning...
... Mater and Flo.
Baggie number 2 builds Fillmore...
... Sarge and Sally.
Baggie number 3 builds...
a pair of booths.
While baggie number 4 builds the cafe itself. Lego designed a rather nice action feature into this building. When the roof is pressed down, a lever "kicks" the vehicle in the cafe out. It's mildly amusing.
The Lightning McQueen included here is the regular version of the character. I like the eyes of the vehicle, but hte rest of the vehcle seems a bit boring. I don't like the design of the spoiler on the back, and the lack of red "lights" there either.
Tow looks the same as usual.
Sally is just a small blue car who's a bit borign design-wise.
I like Flo's design - the use of the printed yellow brick gives it character. The design of the "fin" is ingenious as it utilises existing Lego parts.
Sarge looks cutesey, probably thanks to his printed bricks. It's interesting that his eyes are the same brick, but placed side by side.
Fillmore is my favourite vehicle of the lot. There's so much colour there thanks the printed bricks. The expression on her face is amazing.
The design is great - to the extent that they've even included a side mirror on the van.
Six vehicles is nothing to scoff at, and this set does deliver a nice mixture of vehicles. My favourite part of it is when Sally and Lightning are placed side by side such that they are looking into each other's eyes...
The rest of the set is fun too, with a carwash and gas pumps, but I really won't be playing too much with these. I'll be honest, I purchased this set just for the vehicles and I have no regrets doing so.
