#525 of Year 2 Lego 3648 City Police Chase

I'm just gonna continue the Lego theme for this week... I'm not sure if there'll be a theme for the month.  Probably not though, as I have to open up the Toy Story stuff and the leftovers from last month.  Today, I'm opening a "Special Edition", whatever that means, Lego set.  It's City, and it's Police related... of course.  Lego City is a Police city after all...

The box is square, and rather flat.  I wonder if this is Lego's attempt at reducing paper usage.  The front shows all the bits and bobs in the set, while the back has the action features and the other Police sets in the line.

The side of the front of the box is marked with a "Special Edition" type of logo, whatever that means.  The box contains two baggies of bricks, two instruction booklets, one for each baggie, and a decal sheet.

Bag number 1 is mostly white and black with some blue...

and it builds the Police trike and the patrol car.  The trike isn't too bad, but isn't too exciting either.  The patrol car is long, or at least longer than what I would expect, and has a noticable lack of studs.  The use of stickers and transparent bricks give it a rather interesting look.  One thing I do have against it - it does not have working doors.  Someone needs to remind Lego of the history of working doors on Town vehicles!

Baggie number 2 is mostly red and grey...

and it builds a sports car and a traffic light with camera.  The latter is just fluff.  The former attempts to be a muscle car, but fails miserably  The car is boring and looks a bit on the ugly side.  I mean, Lego has a whole theme of sports vehicles (Racers), yet they can't build a muscle car that actually looks exciting?  And it has no working doors, which adds a million points to my distaste of it.

Overall, the set feels like a "parts" set - extras for the collection, but not a necessity.  The patrol car is probably the best part of the set.  One has to wonder why Lego couldn't have sold this as two separate sets instead...
