Bits and Bobs 20110314 Happy Pi Day!

It's Pi day today, no, not the type that you eat, but the numerical constant used in mathematics.  Or that's what maths geeks would want us to believe.

Well, if you haven't already noticed, there's a new banner up top (and reproduced above as well).  It's the Transformers Animated Autobots and they will be headlining the blog for some time to come.  There's also a bit more graphics on the sidebar linking to the toylines that I and the guest bloggers have written quite a bit of reviews about and also to some of the sites that I'm involved with.  As a reminder to everyone there is a contest runnning with a Sword of Ages as the prize, and you get to decide the toyline that I'm opening in May in the forum poll.  There's quite a lot happening here.

Entertainment Earth has some images for the toys in the upcoming ThunderCats line including Tigra (shown above) in the Classics 8" series, and the toys from the cartoon for the 4" and 6" series.  I still think Tigra's eyes are painted too close together.

The trailer for the new TMNT cartoon series on Nick has hit Youtube.  It's still a whole year away, and it doesn't really look that great to me, but then again, I'm not a turtles fan.  Thanks to Poe for the above news.

If you haven't got your Onell spaceship... erm... the rig yet, well, there's only limited stocks left at the Onell store.  It's a great design that transforms from a spaceship to two different mechs.  It's definitely great if you like the Glyos system.

And talking about small things, the Series 4 Lego minifigures list has finally made it onto lego.com's site.  Check out the figures in the list and hopefully you'll be able to get those that you actuallly do want.

Since I started with the Transformers, I might as well end with them.  TakaraTomy has announced two model kits for Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.  I can't read the Japanese, so I have no idea if they actually do transform.  The release will probably be around the time that the movie Dark of the Moon hits the big screen.  And that's it for now!

  1. Why does everything have to gravitate towards CGI these days. Why can't someone do a good cel based cartoon? Not a huge TMNT fan either, but that preview didn't wow me.

Now those Classic Thundercats figures? Those I can get behind. Too bad Mattel didn't get the license b/c I'd love to see the Four Horsemen's take on the characters. Plus the figure construction would be better.

  2. I'm rather disapppointed that they swapped out cell based Transformers animated for totally CGI Transformer Prime. The former was so much better.

Thundercats, thankfully, won't be CGI though.

I'm glad we are getting the Classics and the modern figures from Bandai. They are doing all things correct. Well, except the way the eyes are painted...

  3. @ the new banne: AH! Robots in my eyes! lol It looks really good. Didn't think Transformers would be able to pull off a sentence like that.

@ Turtles...that looks wrong. VERY wrong. New Thundercats looks cool though. I preferred the clip for the canned movie though. That was cool, dark and funny at the same time!

  4. Yeah, I'm just as surprised as you at how pliable the Animated stuff is. I had lots of fun playing around with them to form the banner.
