#266 of 365 JLU Green Lantern, Flash & Tornado

It's the last 100 toys of the year, and it has been a wild ride so far... and today we start the final run of Super Screened September, with none other than the leftover Justlice League Unlimited week from JLU June.  Wow.  First up, is a three-pack of John Stewart, Flash and Tornado.

It isn't everyday that I get to open up a three pack!  That's like 3 toys in one day.  Mattel decided to package a three pack of JLU with the figures shown in the episodes.  For episode 457 it was Flash, John Stewart andthe Tornado.  The packaging is relatively simple with a clear bubble and the log inside the bubble, instead of being on the top.  The top of the card has the image from the cartoon where the heroes are flying over the head of the Magnificient 7.  the back of the card has a simple starburst with the three packs featured on most of the back.

Out of the package, well, these are just normal JLU figures, with limited articulation.  Thankfully, the limbs are not warped because Mattel wisely decided to package thse three-packs with the standard pose.

Flash is just a simple figure with a unique head.  The paintwork is good, but he's otherwise unexceptional.  The tornado has a cape over the standard body and a bit more paintwork, but is the smallest of the three in this pack and seems to be a teenager when placed next to a figure like the Martian Manhunter.  The paintwork again is good, but there's close to no detail on the figure.

Green Lantern John Stewart is prehaps my favourite in the pack, probably because of the shiney metallic GL symbol on his chest.  Under the right condition, it shines brillently.  Otherwise, the body is bland, as usual for a JLU figure, and the sculpt is unexceptional.  The paintwork on the head could be better, but what he has is good.

Overall, the JLU figures are fun for display and is good for little kids to play with, but as action figures, it's probably not one that would stand out among the crowd - there are better action figure lines of DC superheroes out there.

  1. Yay! JL figures. I love them. I might be in ther minority, but I'm not such a big fan of the more articulated bodies in that line. They look SUPER cheap and I've had a couple come broken in the packaging. :(

  3. I might do a guest review in time. That would be cool. Now's not a great time though. :(

  5. @Darkspecter - I didn't know they HAD any more articulated bodies. Interesting. I'd love to see 'em.

I've always liked the look of the line, just not the lack of movement...

  6. @LJ As I said, it's a great line for display, and it's small enough to fit almost anywhere.

  7. @LJM: The Green Lantern and Flash figures are the more articulated bodies: neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, hips and knees. The regular bodies just have neck, shoulders and hips (like that Red Tornado figure).

I've had a broken Green Lantern that had this crazy elastic type piece come out of his waist (so he spins in circles) and most of my Supermen with that body can't hold any sort of pose. lol
