#232 of 365 Transformers Animated Starscream

I'm still on Transformers Animated week, and I've just watched the first three episode of the cartoon on Wednesday.  The cartoon was a bit boring, since there were only 5 main autobots and 5 deceepticons, but I think more is scheduled.  Anyways, today I'm opening Starscream here on Animated August.

Have I seen the box before?  Yes.  Thsi box is similar to Megatron's box, but is obviously customised for Starscream.  His image is on the front, and the back and the sides...

so one can't mistake this for anything else other than Starscream.  The box is rather empty inside, but that's only because the jet takes up quite a bit of room from wingtip to wingtip, but is mostly flat.

Out of the box, Starscream comes with two missiles which fits into the missile launchers originally packaged pointing towards the back.  That's a quick easy fit though to bring them to the front.  The toy is made from hard plastic, and the tampograph details on the wings and fusilage is well done.  The painted jet body isn't too shoddy either.

The transformation was surprisingly simple, and it was aided by gears and springs - flip the legs forward, and the arms swing into place automatically which cause the wings to drop into place.  There are quite a bit of little details like that here.  It was cool to transform.  What's not cool was that the joints come apart rather easily during the transformation.  No biggie there as they snap back into place, but it's still a little bit blegh to have to do that.

The headsculpt is adequate, the grin mimics Starscream's grin in the cartoon.  I like how the clear fusilage canopy works on the figure as well.  This Starscream seems a bit skinny though, but that's just cartoony, so I guess it's acceptable.  The missile launchers on the arms are not removable, which is definately a minus in my book.

Despite coming in the same type of box as Megatron, Starscream is half a head taller than Megatron... and his legs seems to be very bowled, as if he has ridden on horses for a long long time.  I do like this Starscream, but since he does come in a box, I think I'll put him back into the box.

  1. I'm not the biggest follower of Transformers media, but Starscream has always been one of my favorites. I like the animated design, and the cocky grin...just not the color scheme. You'd think they'd have used the more recognizable red, white, and blue...

  2. I don't mind the colour scheme. I think he's rather nice, but I'm not sure I would want to display him since he seems a bit... childish. I want my 'bots to be huge and mean and more... adult.

  3. the lean, sneaky, scheming type of toy works well for Starscream too I fancy. He's the sort to run from battle instead of trading blows

  4. Lean maybe. Anorexic, definitely not. And this Starscream is very anorexic. I mean, look at his groin - it's the same size as his head!
