Soul of Chogokin Voltes V Preview

I'm just previewing the photos of the Soul of Chogokin stuff that I've got and these photos were taken early 2010.  I think there's only been three robot anime that I've really been drawn to - Godmars, Gold Lightan and the grand-daddy that started this all, Voltes V.

This is the first version of the Soul of Chogokin toy.  After this toy was released, there were large numbers of complaints, so Bandai went back and retooled some of the parts and then repainted it to give a more vintage toy-accurate "Volt in Box" version.

Voltes is basically 5 vehicles which combine together to form the huge sentinel, Voltes.  Unlike the "scramble city" type of gestaltation (is that even a word?), Voltes features the "linear" combination mode that was common among the Japanese robots of the early 80s.  The third type of gestalt is the modified "scramble city" typified by Raiden and Devastator.  And that's it for Bandai week.
