#850 of Year 3 MotUC Snake Man-at-Arms

First off, if you're reading this in the next few days and you haven't bought a MotUC sub, please do me a favour and buy one.  I'd like to see figures such as MotUC Ram Man here on this blog.  Subscriptions can be made on Matty Collector until the 6th of August 2012.  Now that the public service announcement is out of the way, let's get back to today's non-regularly non-scheduled toy opening.  It's Man-At-Arms... wait, it's the Scaly variant.

Snake MAA comes on the regular MotUC packaging, but he has a Snake Men sticker on the bubble that hides his privates.  Well, there's no need to be ashamed of furry pants is there?  I won't bother about his boring bio, or the crazy 30th anniversary logo on the back.  I'm just glad that they didn't change the packaging for the 30th anniversary.

Since it's a quarterly variant this year, it comes with a minicomic - He-Ro unleashed?  Yay?

The art used for the cover is nice, but it seems so out of character for a minicomic.  The contents are more or less what you would expect from Scott Neitlich - plenty of nothing, and it's even worse in this issue.

This MAA comes with his mace and a crown of snakes.  The mace has gold paint on it which does make it look good.  The crown of snakes seems a bit odd an accessory - they could have made it such that it could be held in MAA's arms or maybe make it more chakram-like.  The figure itself reminds me of a custom made by someone without much skill like me - it's boring.  Wait, this is an official figure?

The use of the long loincloth seems to be Mattel's way of making this the MYP MAA - swap in a ponytail head, give him his arm cannon and he'd be done.  Actually, wait, I'd much rather have that figure than this one.  This MAA doesn't even fit in with the Snakemen.  He was originally a plot twist to give the Snakemen vehicles.  Fat chance we have of getting vehicles in MotUC!  So I have no idea what Toyguru was even thinking when he went ahead with Snake MAA.  I know, I know, pick any one of his stock excuses...
